Berg’s Beads is my main business. This entity creates new designs, selling tutorials, kits and supplies. Such as pen wraps, tea light wraps, 3D pods, 3D stars, coaster inserts, jewelry, resin cabochons, and more.
Embellished Home & Office (by Berg’s Beads) is selling finished items for home decor, organization and office supplies. Including beaded letter openers, beaded handle serving utensils, retractable lanyards, zipper charms, wine charms, key chains, etc.
Mirrored Inspiration (by Berg’s Beads) is selling finished jewelry and items based on others’ designs; most are designs that have inspired me and spark new ideas, designs, and colorways. Including earrings, bracelets, necklaces, button covers, cuff links, tie tacks and more.
I expanded to Peyote stitch (even count, then odd count, eventually adding spiral/circular, diagonal, Peyote With a Twist, creating 3D stars and pods), herringbone, flat and spiral netting, and other bead weaving techniques, including flat spiral, Russian Spiral, Minerva Spiral, Dutch Spiral, St Peterburg, and more.
I then got into braiding, kumihimo (Japanese braiding, sometimes used by Samurai warriors on their armor), first learning the basic kongo gumi braid (8 strands), adding beads, and expanded to 7 strands, Laramie. It is a great craft to work on-the-go, as it can be done on a foam disk and all the beads can often be preloaded (as defined by design). When the pandemic hit, a number of designers held zoom classes, so over the course of hours, with homework between sessions, beautiful creations were made. More braids: kusari tsunagi (aka Prumihimo™ using Patented disk created by Pru McRae), kaku yatsu, edu yatsu, Naka Tsuksushi, Oimatsu Gumi.
I try to learn at least 1-2 new stitches/techniques a year, which sometimes includes learning new software tools to help design an idea in my head. (I currently use BeadTool 4 and Beadographer for many of my designs.)
Now, I have fun with the (tens of) thousands of (individual) beads I have access to. Love to try out color combinations and more.
